Self*Control {Sort of}

2008 marks the year that I bid farewell to
my crippling addiction,
my beloved friend & associate:
Pepsi.

I have made *such attempts* in the past, only to fail miserably & become even more dependent upon it's divine goodness.

My endeavors have been going {fairly} good, considering the fact that my husband continues to stock pile our fridge with a 12-ish pack on a weekly basis.

I do have set backs, particularly during my all-night-scrapbooking rendezvous.

But to that I say: C'est la vie.

***

Perhaps in the next life this lovely can of scrumptious bubbliness won't have 150 calories & the sugar equal to FIVE krispy creme donuts, per serving.

{A girl can only dream.}

Until then: the battle continues....
{May the force be with me}

[Happy, happy Tuesday friends!]

I'm right there with ya sista! I'm 4 days into withdrawls! I bought a new water bottle that has been glued to my hip so that I can consume a minimum of 64 oz a day. So far this attempt has been positive for me as I have made a conscious effort to drink my water instead. I do feel good, but it's a sad goodbye.

I hear ya...I keep telling myself no more {Coke & Dr.Pepper} but it doesn't last. I'm willing to give up other things so I can still have my two favs. Goodluck!

Good luck girlie....sorry, soda is NOT one of my addictions..I have plenty of others though.....

I also love the soda but I love the diet kinds and I suggest it to you. No calories or sugar it is basically flavored nothing in a can {with a cancer warning...} But have you ever heard of someone dying from diet soda?? No and you definitely stay skinnier drinking it ha ha Only now that I am "with child" I have had to cut back considerably!!! Good Luck friend!

ok i have been trying to think of a way to not make this weird, but um i think it probably just is! i know there are alot of blog stalkers but i feel guilty if i don't make myself known. 1st my name is sara (crosby) DeWitt, i am a cousin to tayna (whetten) johnston and i knew myron way back in the day when the whettens would pull me into their ward productions...so that is how i fell upon your page. I have read many of your entries and am amazed how inspiring you are, some can fake it and write it everyonce in awhile but you show it in all you do and i have never seen so many comments on one persons page. it looks as though you touch alot of peoples lives (more than you know im sure) wow this is really long, i apologize i really just wanted to say thanks for ur uplifting blog and to tell myron what an AMAZING wife he ended up with! Good things happen to good people! (now that im not a stranger maybe i won't feel so guilty reading your blog now) thanks sara

here's how i rationalize my diet coke habit. i just make myself drink all the water i'm supposed to have for the day BEFORE i start in on the diet coke. that way, i don't feel AS guilty. oh, and i always ask for extra ice at sonic. did you know ice is made from water? see . . . it's not so bad!

LOVE that quote! I think I'm gonna have to steal it & start sticking it everywhere, like in the fridge, on my computer, on my TV, on my debit card, at every fast food place within a 20 mile radius....I have a lot of bad habits to break. Hopefully you have more self-control than I do.

so, brant brought home pepsi the other day and I always thought I was a coke person when it came to the two...but no. Pepsi is way better. Dr. Pepper rules them all :) Good luck with your quest. I gaveup Dr. Pepper for 8 years. Then I married Brant and I had to deal with the reality that I can't say no if it's always staring me in the face when he fills the fridge with it. See you on the 28th!

Why do some of our most sinful addictions seem to be heaven sent? I'll never know... (fyi: mine is Dr. Pepper.) And, I am seriously thinking about doing the paper chain or some sort of variety of it. Its been in the workings of my brain for awhile. If I get to it, I will definitely post it!

Oh man, good luck with that. I gave up the Dr. about 6 weeks ago. Didn't relapse once until I went on vacation. I had 2 cokes in 1 day out there and the next day the headaches came back. I wasn't going to let that ruin my vacation so I had to keep drinking coke everyday to avoid the headaches. Now I have to start over. Like I said, good luck.

Good luck getting through your Pepsi withdrawls. I don't envy you your quest. I can't live without my diet Dr. Pepper every day!

I was wondering if you were quitting because of the caffeine (which is the part that bugs me!!)but then you mentioned the part about sugar! ya, not so good for us, huh?? But I have had the same addiction to Pepsi for YEARS!! Probably as many years as you have been alive . . . LOL! But, I too have considered giving it up, and at least going with the "unleaded" (caffeine free) version, instead!
Despite what you read on the can, or hear, diet soda is WORSE so don't go there!!
have some lemonade, and we can cheer each other on in our withdrawal from the wicked good juice of the Pepsi fruit!
Love ya, girl!

does your quote apply to diet coke? come on over. i have my secret stash. and i won't tell pepsi on you. diet coke is sweet nectar of the gods. i promise. and its good for you. wink wink. it'll cure that headache of yours.

I agree - Pepsi just never loses its yumminess. I am pretty much a "diet" girl now {when it comes to soda} but I will always be a pepsi girl at ♥ and I do allow myself to splurge every once in a while! Like, what good is Gecko Grill if you can't pair it up with an ice cold Pepsi...I'm kinda hungry now! :)

Way to go and best of luck!

Good luck.........
And I'm with "Amy" and am going to put that quote all over this darn house! I so needed to hear that!

Good luck! It's a hard habit to break, for sure. BUT, it can be done! I work with a girl who lost 6 pounds a month after she quit drinking coke. So, again, good luck!

Bless your pepsi loving heart! I'm 6 weeks off the stuff and I have to say, it's pretty easy now. AND, I lost 5 pounds the first month. Hope you get over the head-aches soon!

The Wizzle said...

You can do it! That stuff is no good for you, you're better off without it!

(I'll let you know when I get started on kicking my chocolate addiction. Don't wait by the phone...)

Good Luck, I have tried and tried to give up my diet coke, but I have found I really have no personality without it!!! It is wicked stuff and we all would be better off without it, but If it's like your only bad habit, it's not that bad right...

LAME. Am I the only one NOT trying to give up pop?

Is it bad to make a trade, like for instance: Dr. Pepper for Sonic Cherry Limeade? I am pretty sure that can be arranged.

Good luck sista! Growing up I wasn't allowed to drink caffeine so I never got addicted to the stuff. In fact, I can't stand the taste of it. Probably just because I'm not used to it since I never drink it. I hear you just have to wean yourself slowly so you don't get headaches.
